Twelve months of preparation and training is coming to an end for the New Zealand Rifle Team as it heads to South Africa over the coming week.
Twenty-six members of the NZ Open and Under-25 teams have been training in rain, wind, heat and frost throughout the past year as they prepare to compete in the South Africa Open Championships, Individual World Long Range Championships, Under-25 World Long Range Teams Championship, and the penultimate World Long Range Teams Championship - the Palma Match.
The World Long Range Championships and Palma Match are held every four years. This year South Africa is hosting the event, at Bloemfontein's Gen De Wet Range - 4,500 feet above sea level with temperatures varying between 16-34 degrees.
